Power Tree’s energy storage technology is environmentally friendly technology. The generation of electric power is considered to produce more pollution than any other single industry in the United States, mostly through the burning of coal, and is the leading cause of smog, acid rain, global warming, and air toxics.
To the extent that older coal, oil and natural gas-fired generating plants are used to provide peak power (i.e., peaker units), storing energy generated with more efficient base load generation reduces CO2, NOX, SOX and other emissions. Utility use of Power Tree systems in the distribution grid for frequency and voltage control can also displace fossil fuel generation by absorbing and discharging power as required. Energy storage technologies, additionally, reduce the need for new generation, transmission and distribution construction.
