Home > Commercial Customers  Power Tree's energy storage technology can be utilized by commercial customers with large electric bills such as office buildings, grocery stores, industrial manufacturers, etc. The compelling value proposition for commercial customers is due in large part to the variable rate structure offered by utility companies in the United States and many foreign nations. Utilities charge less for electricity at off-peak hours (night) than during high-demand hours (day). These peak/off-peak rates vary from state to state but can have differentials as high as a $.24 per kilowatt hour and even greater disparities in nations across the globe. Power Tree’s technology enables storage of less expensive off peak electricity for use during peak times, resulting in dramatic savings for commercial customers. Every commercial customer has a unique electricity load profile with loads changing by hour of the day and with variations in the weather. The figure below shows the hourly energy use (measured in kW) for a typical office building on a summer day both with and without the Power Tree system. As the graph indicates, less peak period electricity is consumed with a Power Tree energy storage system installed. By shifting electric loads from peak to off-peak hours, commercial customers can achieve bottom line savings of up to 50% or more on their electricity bills in areas with wide peak/off peak spreads.
